quick {healthy} chocolate shake fix

wednesday. 4pm.
overcast.
kids are playing the piano and painting miniature pumpkins.

suddenly i badly needed wanted a chocolate shake. sans sugar, extra calories, and junky ingredients.

and that is how i came up with this quick {healthy*} chocolate shake recipe. desperate times call for desperate measures, they say.

Quick {Healthy*} Chocolate Shake Fix
1 1/2 cup almond milk
2 Tbsp uncooked rolled oats
handful raw almonds
1 whole banana
1 Tbsp honey
dash cinnamon
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
4 ice cubes

soak the oats in the almond milk for at least 15 minutes or until softened. combine all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. sip and enjoy this healthier version of a chocolate shake!

please note * i am not a nutritionist. but i'm making an educated guess that the ingredients i used in this chocolate shake are healthier than the ingredients in your average fast-food chocolate milkshake. here is the list of ingredients in a popular fast-food chocolate shake: high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, water, cocoa (processed with alkali), artificial flavors, caramel color, salt, potassium sorbate (preservative), artificial flavor (vanillin), red 40, Milk, sugar, cream, nonfat milk solids, corn syrup solids, mono- and diglycerides, guar gum, dextrose, sodium citrate, artificial vanilla flavor, sodium phosphate, carrageenan, disodium phosphate, cellulose gum, vitamin A palmitate, Cream, nonfat milk, water, corn syrup, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, mono-and diglycerides, carrageenan, polysorbate 80, beta carotene (color), natural (dairy and vegetable source) and artificial flavor, mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) to protect flavor. Whipping Propellant (nitrous oxide). Cherries, water, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, malic acid, citric acid, natural (plant source) and artificial flavors, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate (preservatives), red 40, sulfur dioxide as preservative (contains sulfites)
