Around Here Lately 8.5.11

shells

This week...we recovered from our vacation at the beach, and adjusted to our new vegan diet. I had to go to the grocery store mid-week for more produce and vegan-friendly snacks that I forgot on my big grocery trip. I'm happy to report that we did not eat fast foot once this week, and no one has complained about missing meat or real cheese. So far, so good! I plan to share some of our favorite vegan recipes on Menu Planning Monday!

Places we're going and people we're seeing...It was insanely hot this week so the only places we went were places with AC or lots of water. We pulled the drapes closed and stayed home most of the week. We ventured out to play dress-up with friends at Gorbella's, we made a papier-mâché hot air balloon at home, visited the Dentist, had Bubba's 3 year photoshoot, and went swimming with friends one afternoon. I organized our school room, got started on our academic calendar, and finished up some manipulative projects for our upcoming school year. It was a hot and productive week.

The Family Illustrated Bible
Links I want to share...
Have you seen this Family Illustrated Bible by Sally Tagholm? It came in the mail this week and it is incredibly gorgeous in person. It's unlike any children's or family bible I've ever seen. I'll have a review up soon, and a chance to win it, but check out this video ad to take a peek inside the book.

I recently discovered and developed a blog crush on Young House Love. Sherry and John {hilarious} host the Pinterest Challenge and I plan to link up soon! I've been rockin' some Pinterest projects lately! Another new {to me} blog that I love is eighteen25. These sisters are creative, inspiring, helpful, and beautiful to boot!

This giveaway for the latest Robert Pierre CD is still open. Enter if you love upbeat contemporary Christian music. This CD has become one of our favorites. No lie.

My friend Meghan and her family are adopting a baby boy from Taiwan. Check out the website: Subtracting By Adding {I designed the graphics} and help this family bring baby Campbell home by praying and donating.

I'm thanking God for...whatever He has planned for us. Doors are opening and shutting all around me, and I wonder while I watch, and I make the most of the moments in between. I'm thankful for the opportunity to teach my children at home. I'm thankful for friends that support us and stick by us. I'm thankful for peace and love in my household.

I'm working on...rounding up sponsors and swag for the Mamas Write Mini-Conference! Calling all Dallas-Fort Worth Christian Mom Bloggers! We're putting together a fun and encouraging workshop for you. Get your tickets now!

And that is what has been going on around here lately! I'm linking up with The Homeschool Chick's Summer Version of The Homeschool Mother's Journal. Have a great weekend, yall!
