I have to dedicate sometimes an entire day in my week to errand running. Post office, grocery store, office supply store, dry cleaners, bank, blah blah blah.
Although my little sidekick and shopping partner doesn’t mind, I almost always feel super guilty for dragging her along. I don’t feel like I’ve done my motherly duty unless I’ve entertained and educated her with a playdate, storytime, class, party, or extra special something.
To make myself feel a tad better about these dreaded but necessary all-errand days, and to show babygirl a little fun, I try to squeeze in a mini field-trip.
Our favorite is the pet store. Luckily, there happens to be a new pet store in the same shopping center where a lot of my errands occur. We visit the cats up for adoption (thru the glass only, of course), pet puppies that are shopping with their owners, see billions of colorful fish, caged birds, frogs, lizards, gerbils, ferrets, even spiders! We sometimes spend up to an hour on this mini field-trip and never spend a dime. She loves it, and so, I love it.
Don’t forget to wash hands after!
