savoring summer

is there anything finer than running a block on a hot summer evening, clutching a few dollars from Daddy, and catching the ice cream truck? 

sweat dripping down their faces and 

watermelon-flavored popsicle juice dripping on their chins, 

they savored the sweetness of the moment. 

"is my tongue red, Mama?" "is my tongue green, Mama?"
