Dining out with baby

ok this is really sad. because it's true.

i just found a full spread on tastingmenu.com on how to dine out with a toddler.

tips like beat the clock, because "your child will become unmanageable and you will have to leave the restaurant." and a similar, but re-named tip, "compress the meal," or as my husband likes to call it, "let's see who can get heartburn the fastest."
"go early," the author suggests, in order to get better service and, of course, "there are fewer people for your kids to bother."

it seems like a lot of work, and not a lot of fun. so the alternative to going to a restaurant with a child is taking her to a fast food pit, loading her up on fried grease and fried nuggets, and letting her crawl around in a grimey, age-inappropriate "playscape" with kids twice her size.

dining out with a toddler doesn't have to be so much work. the work is in setting up a restaurant that is built for families with infants and toddlers. yes. that's right. a kid-friendly restaurant that doesn't serve french fries, and has clean toddler-appropriate toys.

so let's do it. join me.
